I reflect on my parenting fairly often. I have six grown children. In many ways, they are still the same self-consumed, know-it-alls they were as teenagers. They certainly have not followed my teachings to them, and they have all steered away from the life examples I thought my wife and I had provided. But they are all still alive and relatively functional in the world. And at my ripe old age, I realize that that is about all parents can expect of themselves.
