I acknowledge you for speaking out on a topic where you might not get a lot of support. (I'm an old guy, too.) I have to say, though, that I have a hard time getting too excited about the lack of civility when I hear so much hatred in everyday life. To me, it's putting form over substance. Hatred is the killer, and that does not change if it is expressed with a smile or a pleasant tone of voice.
