I used to make a fair amount of money as a lawyer. I didn't keep much because I had 6 kids and an extended family that always had somebody in trouble. My heart would not allow me to ignore their needs, and I don't regret those times. But medical problems kept me from working at the same level, and everything started going to hell. The people we helped are either mired in their own problems or have forgotten us. (I never expected a return on our gifts.) My wife and I are now in dire straits, and I don't know how we got here. I receive no response to my job applications. Somehow, the system has gone right by us, and we don't know how to catch up. (I'm 76, which doesn't help.) We are very conscientious around money, and never buy frivolously. But that doesn't seem to matter. I don't like this comment because I have never believed in any kind of victimology, but it seems that things will only change when those who rule the roost change (they have no reason to) or disappear (which will only change the faces running things until the system changes). This situation drains even people with integrity who would fight back so that it seems there is no fight left. I feel that happening to me unfortunately. We need someone with the charisma of Trump but the character of Biden. Are there any of those left?
