I've read all the comments, and a lot of the criticisms are well-taken, but I am still with you. I believe a populace who agreed with this solution (if nothing else) could make it happen. Except for the fortunate, America has become little more than an idea, and that idea obviously isn't keeping us together anymore. That is stating nicely. More realistically, America has a deep cancer which is manifesting. Surgery is needed. At some point, some sort of extreme step will be required, unless civil war becomes preferable. (I can't imagine a worse conflict than one where, unlike our first civil war, one cannot tell which side a person is on.) My fearful prediction is that, because people hang on to what is familiar as long as they can, It will take a catastrophe like one of those you mentioned, one that will severely affect the life of every American, to get people to recognize the need for radical change.
