It’s Time To Take Down The Bullies

We’ve taken it for a long time now. Too long.

Being a fairly liberal group, the Medium community has never been pro-Trump. But for a long time, some writers pushed merger and healing, which required some level of compassion for the other side.

But by the beginning of this year, I only saw two writers at Medium who still attempted to “understand” the extremists on the right and assumed that there must be some reasonable place on the right to speak to.

One of the writers is Jessica Wildfire, and the other is me. (Don’t worry, I’m not trying to put myself in her class.)

I have watched Jessica’s written voice change over the last couple weeks from the voice of reason to something more stern, and I, too, have crossed the line as a result of recent first-hand encounters with redneck arrogance and cruelty.

For me, the Trumpies are no longer downtrodden people with something to say or fellow Americans with some strong differences of opinion. They are just bullies. That’s all they are . . . bullies.

And once a bully has shown himself for what he is, there is only one way to handle him.
