Two related points . . .
First, When a person conradicts an earlier statement, that is not necessarily a lie. It is only a lie if, at the time he said it, he knew it was untrue. You know, like Trump telling the American people there was no danger from Covid when he already knew how dangerous it was.
Second, We all change our minds all the time when circumstances change or upon further reflection. None of us thinks we are lying when we do that. But when it comes to politicians, Americans crucify anyone who says something other than what he said previously. But things do change, and only an idiot fails to recongize that a politician who cannot recognize the change and adjust his position is pathetic and sometimes dangerous. You would all still be believing that the world is flat
