We can all be very philosophical and psychological in our analysis of the Trumpies, but in my experience we are well beyond that point. Maybe I feel further along than many of you because I live in a village of 200 people, not one of whom (including my family) has any sympathy for my view of things. I was in the bar this afternoon, and they were all talking about sending the Bidens to Ukraine where they would be dispensed with. My anemic response was that there are a whole bunch of countries that would love to have Trump for a little while. They left it there because a number of them, for some reason, hold me in a special place as the Village lawyer. But I don't like what's happening to me. I have always spoken up against bull shit and bullies, but these people scare me. They have their bigotry, their hatred of everything Democrat, their blind love for Trump and, most important, their guns and their agreement. This is a cult. I spent many years in a cult. I know that they are dangerous and impervious, until something internal breaks them up. I watched over and over again as people outside the cult tried to connect with members, but they had no idea what they were dealing with and always failed. Your words will make no difference to the Trump cult. Your talk may allow you to feel better about things, but they change nothing real. I have come to the conclusion that, although talk serves a purpose for all of us, it is also time for action. None of us want that to be true because we all have so much to lose. But I believe the time has come. Perhaps, January 6 will tell us whether there is truth to what I say or not.
